About the Teacher
Welcome to the Monroe County Virtual School. My name is Sandy Childress, and I reside in Tellico Plains with my husband Tim. We have two daughters, Cierra and McKenzie, and five grandchildren: Connor, Lucy, Cross, Crew, and Collins.
I received my Bachelor’s Degree (grades 7-12) in English from Carson Newman College in 1983 and a Master’s Degree in Reading from East Tennessee State University in 1988. I also have an elementary endorsement (grades 1-8) from the University of Tennessee.
I retired from Tellico Plains High School in 2015, after teaching English for 32 years. Since my retirement, I have continued teaching part time for Monroe County and presently serve as the English I and II instructor for the Monroe County Virtual School. I am excited to be a part of this new program and continue my love of teaching.
