About me

Hello! My name is Mallorie Harrell, and I’m excited to be one of the high school math teachers here at Monroe County Virtual School. I also serve as the head coach for the girls’ basketball team at Vonore Middle School.

I moved to Madisonville in 2014, but Monroe County has become home—I attended Monroe County Schools as a student and proudly played basketball throughout my school years.

I continued my education at Tennessee Wesleyan University, where I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics Education and later obtained a Master of Arts in Teaching. During my time there, I was also a member of the university’s basketball team.

Teaching Philosophy

My goal as an educator is to help students understand that making mistakes is not only normal but necessary. Mistakes are essential to learning, growth, and becoming stronger—both in academics and in life. I apply this philosophy in the classroom and on the court.

One of my favorite quotes that I try to instill in my students and athletes is:

“Hard work beats talent when talent fails to work hard.”

— Kevin Durant
